Panama offers some of the best all around salt water fishing on the planet and provides visitors with many species of fish year round.

Paradise Lodge stands truly in a league of its own and sprawls out over twenty five acres, located on high grounds with breath-taking 360º views.  If seeing is believing, when you arrive at the lodge (which really should be called a resort), you’ll instantly understand why it is called ‘Paradise’.

A Luxury Base for Ocean Fishing Adventures

Fishing is great here year round.  The dry season is from December to May, and in May it will start to rain, but mostly in the afternoons.  We normally just get a good rain storm and it gets sunny again.  September, October and the beginning of November can be a bit more rainy than the other months.  In 12 years at the lodge, there has been not been one day loss of fishing due to the weather.  Sometimes the offshore fishing can be rough but we can always find good fishing around the islands.

Although many clients bring a few of their own rods and reels and that is fine, they are not needed!  There are all the top rods, reels and rigging needed to get the job done.  We do understand that many people want to bring their own rods and lures to even do a little bit of experimenting and testing with their equipment.  So if you want to put that drag on that new spinning reel to the test – bring it with you and hold on because we aim to put you on the “proving grounds”.

The lodge employs some of the best and most experienced professional captains around who have generations of local fishing experience that will be put to work for you!  All of the captains and mates understand that they are fishing and working for you.

We do many types of fishing here,  popping, jigging, fishing with live bait, chunk bait, slow troll live bait, troll plastics for Grouper, giant Cubera Snapper, Roosters or Amberjacks …….. The list goes on and on. We have many options with many different species of fish to try for.  There are plenty of islands in the area and lots of rock structures to fish and offshore we have the famous Hannibal Bank and Montosa Island to fish for big Marlin , Tuna and Sailfish.

The Fishing

Day 1:  Depending on flight times you may need to spend a night in a hotel in Panama City. The lodge is a five hour drive from Panama City, so if your flight gets in late or departs too early on your return, you may choose to spend a night or two in Panama City.

Day 2:  TOUR STARTS - Pick-up and transfer to the lodge and get settled in.

Day 3-7:  Five days fishing.

Day 8: Return back to Panama City and if needed, overnight in hotel (not included). Transfer to airport same day or next day - TOUR ENDS.

In addition to this, no less than $500.00 in cash or its equivalent must be presented as proof of financial solvency.

Airports & Airlines: What City do you fly into?  Panama City, Republic of Panama. Seats are a bit larger, and a free alcoholic drink is offered as part of their service.

Overnight Travel: Will you be required to stay the night in Panama City?  Yes. We recommend that you stay overnight in Panama City on both the first and last night. If you do plan on flying home the same day as you leave the lodge, you must arrange for the flight to be after 6:00 p.m.

Travel & Logistics

Currency: As tourists, guests will have no difficulty with the currency ‘exchange’ because there is none. Panama has adopted the U. S. dollar as their currency, though locals call the dollar a “Balboa” after the famous explorer. Credit cards are accepted at the finer hotels and restaurants in Panama City. It is also best to carry a large supply of smaller denomination bills – nothing larger than $20’s. Bills of $50 and $100 can be hard to spend or exchange throughout the country!

Language: English is considered Panama’s second language. In Panama City you can expect the people in the nicest hotels, bars and restaurants to speak English fluently. Once outside of the cities, you may find it helpful to brush up on your Spanish, as guests will be in Latin America.

Weather: Panama’s weather is tropical, with daytime temperatures averaging around 85°F - 90°F on the ocean, and only about five to 10 degrees cooler at night. December through April is the dry season, often with little or no rain. The other months of the year can be quite humid, with tropical rain showers in the afternoons, some of which can be quite strong, but usually for a short duration. Be advised to bring a sun screen with a SPF rating of at least 50 or higher, preferably SPF: 70-80 (also don’t forget lip protector)!

Safety: The people of Panama are friendly and the crime rate is low. Panama City is a large metropolis, and as in any big city, please exercise caution. In the central banking and shopping district (where you will be staying), you can feel very safe. If you go out at night, just take one of the many friendly cabs. In David, you are generally safe day and night but you should always exercise due diligence and caution when traveling in unfamiliar surroundings.
